Privacy policy

4chan TV has no accounts. This page lists what it stores, which outside services it uses, and how to get your data deleted.

Last updated 30 October 2026.

On your device

• Settings (board, thread, playback options, what to show, hidden files, show/hide UI) are kept in your browser's local storage.
• Saved clips are stored in your browser's storage (IndexedDB) on that device only, with their thumbnail and post details. They are never uploaded anywhere; deleting them under Downloads, or clearing the site's data, removes them.
• Device ID cookie ctv_uid: a random, signed value kept for a year, so your hearts, comments and nickname stay yours. It is not linked to your name or e-mail. Clearing your cookies gives you a new identity.
• 18+ cookie ctv_18: set only if you switch on 18+ boards and confirm you are 18 or older; switching them off removes it.
• Google Analytics cookies _ga and _ga_* (see Analytics below).

On our server

• Hearts, comments and nicknames you give, stored with your device ID. Comments are public on this site.
• Visit statistics, first-party: for each page view, the page, the referring site, your time zone (used to estimate the country), your browser language, whether the app was opened from the home screen, and the type of device, browser and system read from the user agent; also which board you tune in, how many clips you watch, which clips you save (file name and size) and whether 18+ boards were switched on or off. They are tied to the anonymous device ID, never to your name, and are deleted after about 400 days. Known bots are ignored.
• IP addresses are not stored as such: only a salted hash, used against spam and abuse (limits on comments and saves).
• Like any website, the hosting provider's web server may keep standard access logs.

Analytics

• Google Analytics 4 runs on every page. It counts visits and how the site is used, and sets the cookies _ga and _ga_* (kept up to 2 years) to recognise returning browsers. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can block these cookies in your browser or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• Our hosting dashboard also counts page views with a cookie-free script: it stores nothing on your device, does not identify you and only gives us anonymous totals (pages viewed, referring sites).

Advertising

4chan TV may show ads served by Google AdSense on its pages to help keep it free. Where ads are shown, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Other services your browser talks to

Videos, images and thumbnails load straight from 4chan's servers (i.4cdn.org), without a referrer. Thread data is fetched by our server from 4chan's public API, so your browser does not contact it. When you save a clip, our server fetches the file from 4chan and passes it to your browser. Fonts come from Google Fonts. These services receive your IP address when your browser loads something from them, under their own privacy policies. The Buy Me a Coffee page only opens if you click it.

Your choices

You can delete saved clips under Downloads at any time, delete your own comments, change or clear your nickname in Settings, and clear the site's data in your browser to reset everything on your device, including the device ID and the Google Analytics cookies. To have the server-side data of a device deleted (hearts, comments, nickname, statistics), write to contact@4chan-tv.com with the #tag shown in Settings → You.

Children

4chan TV is not directed at children under 13. 4chan content can be crude even on work-safe boards, and 18+ boards stay hidden unless you confirm you are 18 or older.
