Questions people ask

What is 4chan TV?

4chan TV turns a 4chan thread into a TV channel: pick a board, pick a thread (or mix the top threads of a board), and every webm and mp4 in it plays one after another, full screen, TikTok-style. You scroll to the next clip or let it auto-advance.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It runs in the browser on phones and desktops, and you can add it to your home screen (Settings → App → Install) so it opens full screen like an app. iPhones play the MP4 files; WebM depends on the iOS version.

Is there sound?

Only boards that allow audio in WebM files have sound, mainly /wsg/ (Worksafe GIF). Tap "Tap for sound" or the speaker button; browsers start videos muted until you interact.

Where do the videos come from?

Straight from 4chan. The app reads the public, read-only 4chan JSON API for thread data and plays the files from 4chan's own CDN. Nothing is re-hosted.

Can I save a video?

Yes. The Save button keeps a copy inside the app, in your browser's storage on that device. Saved videos show up under Downloads and play offline. They never go to your phone's gallery and are not uploaded anywhere.

What are hearts and comments?

Hearts and comments are the app's own layer on top of 4chan: they live on this site, not on 4chan. Each device gets an anonymous identity (no account); you can pick a nickname in Settings.

Does it show 18+ boards?

Not by default. Adult boards stay hidden until you switch them on in Settings and confirm you are 18 or older. Public pages on this site only list work-safe boards.

Is this an official 4chan app?

No. 4chan TV is an independent project with no affiliation with 4chan. 4chan is the source of every thread, image and video shown here.

Why does a video sometimes skip?

Threads on 4chan are pruned quickly, so files disappear. When a file fails to load or does not start within 20 seconds, the app skips it and moves on.
